A GP referral is required before any consultation can proceed.
Gynecomastia is excess breast tissue in men — not just fat. Diet and exercise can't fix glandular tissue. That's why it persists no matter what you do.
Gynecomastia is typically caused by hormonal changes, certain medications, weight fluctuation, or underlying health conditions. It can develop during puberty, in adulthood, or later in life. In many cases, the exact cause isn't identified.
You come in, the tissue is removed, and you go home the same day. The procedure takes around 1 to 1.5 hours under sedation. Incisions are placed at the edge of the areola to keep scarring minimal. Most men return to light activity within days.
Up to 35% of adult men experience gynecomastia. These are the most common reasons they seek a consultation.
Swollen or puffy chest that doesn't respond to exercise or weight loss
Chest feels sensitive to touch or uncomfortable when pressed
Won't wear fitted shirts, always layering up to hide your chest
Avoiding the pool, beach, or gym change rooms because of how your chest looks
One side noticeably larger than the other, or uneven chest contour
Developed during puberty and never resolved — this is common and treatable
Up to 35% of adult men experience gynecomastia. Understanding your options is the first step.
We make sure you have everything you need to make a decision you feel confident about.

Gynecomastia surgery, also known as male breast reduction, removes excess glandular tissue and fat from the chest. It may involve surgical excision, liposuction, or a combination of both. The procedure typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours and is performed as a day procedure under sedation.
All surgical procedures carry risks. Possible complications include bleeding or haematoma, infection, scarring (including keloid or hypertrophic), asymmetry, under- or over-correction, temporary or permanent changes in nipple sensation, and the potential need for revision surgery. This procedure involves a Schedule 4 medicine and is not suitable for everyone. We recommend seeking a second opinion before proceeding.
Yes. As of 1 July 2023, a GP referral is legally required for all cosmetic surgery consultations in Australia. This ensures your doctor has access to your medical history before proceeding.
Most patients can resume light activities within a few days. A compression garment is typically worn for several weeks post-surgery. Swelling and temporary numbness may occur and can last for several weeks to months. Final results may take time to become fully apparent.
Incisions are typically placed at the edge of the areola to minimise visible scarring. Scarring is generally minimal, though individual healing varies. Your doctor will discuss expected scarring during your consultation.
A personalised quote will be provided during your consultation after your individual assessment. The cost depends on the technique used, anaesthesia requirements, and complexity of your case.
A mandatory 7-day cooling-off period applies to all cosmetic surgery procedures in Australia. This gives you time to consider the information provided during your consultation, seek a second opinion if desired, and make a fully informed decision.
